How much does slide scanning and negative scanning cost?

We treat your images as if they are our own - and the quality shows. All of our scan prices include the following features:

  • Flawless execution: We get it right the first time. We are not happy unless you are delighted.
  • Security: All of our work is done in our secure location in Hillsboro, OR. We do not outsource to India, China or Costa Rica like our competitors.
  • Quality:
    • State of the art scanning equipment and software - High quality, high resolution scans with dust and scratch removal (ICE). Grain reduction (GEM) and color restoration (ROC) are included if they are needed for your color slides or negatives. (ICE, ROC and GEM are described here.) ICE, ROC and GEM are not expensive and confusing options with ! You should not need to pay extra for these services.
    • Color and exposure accuracy and validation - Our equipment is calibrated for accurate color. A human being examines and adjusts every photo to verify the accuracy of the color rendition and exposure in the scanned image.
  • Easy to use digital images: When you receive your scan CDs or DVDs, you will be able to use the images right away -- without any additional editing or conversion necessary.
    • Cropping of scanned images - Slide or negative border effects are removed. We do this cropping manually because automated methods can result in losing parts of your images.
    • Rotation of scanned images - All images are rotated so that they are oriented correctly.
    • Multiple files provided - We include JPEG (in four different sizes for printing, slide shows, sharing, and email) and TIFF files (for long-term archival storage).
    • Printed Contact Sheet - We give you a small print of each image to allow you to quickly find an image of interest. (sample contact sheet) This should not cost extra and we include it for free on every order.
  • Value:
    • Archival Quality CDs and DVDs - We use only archival grade CDs and DVDs to deliver your images. Unlike cheap media available at the local electronics store, these disks have lifetimes of as long as 300 years. (This is described in more detail here.) This should not be an expensive option - and we include it for free on every order.
    • No Minimum Order - Send us a single slide or negative or send us 1000. Each gets our full attention. You will not pay a minimum that pushes you to scan hundreds of images.
    • Free Scans! Get 15 free scans just for signing up. Our tell-a-friend program gives you free scans for spreading the word about .
    • No hidden fees, no surprises - Just high quality scanning of your slides and negatives with the best customer service in the industry.

Negative Formats
These diagrams should give you the ability to identify the types of negative film you have. If you are having trouble, please contact us and we will help.
35mm negative strip
35mm Negative Film
Frame Size: 26mm x 36mm.
APS film roll
APS Negative Film
This film is returned from processing in the original cartridge, usually along with a small contact sheet print of all the frames on the roll.
126 negative strip
126 Negative Film
Frame Size: 28mm x 28mm.
110 negative strip
110 Negative Film
Frame Size: 13mm x 17mm.
Disc negative film
Disc Film
Frame Size: 11mm x 8mm.
Introduced by Kodak in 1982, this film was in the form of a flat disc, and was fully housed within a plastic cartridge. Each disc held 15 exposures, the disc being rotated 24° between each image. The fifteen images were arranged around the outside of the disc. The small size of this film makes it difficult to scan; we suggest scanning at the highest resolution.
